Big Rock

Sometimes I hold
My breath as I realize
How fast I'm growing old
Everything has changed so fast
Nothing seems to be as I'm told.
Ages are nothing,
Big rocks turn to sands
By the forces of water and wind
How important are the things
That we built with our own hands?
How soon will they disappear?
What do we affect
When a song that we sing
Reaches another-one's ear
Compared to the hit of a butterfly's wing?
Is it all food for the wind?
Isn't it all about searching
Getting a sense out of every little thing?

Everybody wants to be happy!
But what are we doing?
Are we giving
Or are we only taking?
Isn't it all a question of exchange
Free of charge
Helping each other out?
Or is it only a question of money-making?

None of the things that we've built will ever last!
Is it that thing called time
Or is it us running too fast
But not moving at last?

The walls that we built are nearly gone today.
It's neither concrete nor metal
Which make us important
They will only fade away
As nothing ever stays the same ...

Big rock, swallow me whole
Tell me what you've got to say
Spit me out on sacred ground
So I can be reborn
And your wisdom shall be heard today.
